The art of mushroom growing is to produce mushrooms of the right size at the right time. During Cooling down period, you can manipulate air temperature, CO₂, and relative humidity (R.H.) to influence growth. This module teaches you how to effectively adjust these factors and what to be aware of.
This e-learning is based on the book Mushroom Signals and combines theory with hands-on application.
At the start of the course, you work on theoretical questions using the (digital) book. After each question, you receive immediate feedback, allowing you to quickly understand mistakes and improve your knowledge step by step.
In the second part of the e-learning, the focus shifts to practical cases supported by video. You will analyse real growing situations—for example, identifying which mushroom pins (primordia) will develop and which will not, and learning how to stimulate or slow down this process.
After submitting your answers, you again receive instant feedback, helping you to sharpen your decision-making skills in real time.
Do you still have questions? You can easily contact the trainer by sending a message, ensuring you always get the support you need.
The “Cooling-down” module is one of 7 modules covering the entire mushroom growing process. Other modules include:
After completing all modules, you will be able to understand the entire process and make adjustments if necessary, in order to produce the optimal mushrooms in the quality for your specific market.
In this e-learning module, you will explore a crucial phase in mushroom cultivation: the cool-down process and pinhead development. The module is designed as a focused self-study of approximately 2.5 hours, combining theory with practical decision-making.
You will begin by studying a selected section from Mushroom Signals – The Practical Guide, which clearly explains the principles of cooling down. This forms the foundation for the rest of the module.
To check your understanding, you will complete a short quiz covering the key concepts from the reading.
Next, you will work through realistic Look–Think–Act cases, where you learn to observe, interpret, and act effectively in practical situations:
The module concludes with a final test, allowing you to apply your knowledge and insights to real-life scenarios.
Do you want more control over pinning and yield?
This online e-learning is designed for growers with some experience who want to take the next step. You already understand the basics, but now you want to better understand what really happens during this important stage of the growing process.
In this training, you will learn step by step what happens during pin formation and pin development. You will discover what to focus on and how you can influence the outcome.
CO₂
Relative humidity (R.H.)
Air temperature
You will also learn why the outside climate plays an important role and how to respond to it effectively. By managing ventilation (air exchange), you can influence the spread of the first flush. This has a direct impact on your planning and harvesting costs.
Do you want more control, better distribution, and a more efficient harvest?
Then this e-learning is exactly what you are looking for.
