Cool-down

The art of mushroom growing is to produce mushrooms of the right size at the right time. During Cooling down period, you can manipulate air temperature, CO₂, and relative humidity (R.H.) to influence growth. This module teaches you how to effectively adjust these factors and what to be aware of.

E-Learning

The e-learning is based on the book “Mushroom Signals”. At the beginning of the e-learning, you are given theoretical questions to answer with the help of the (digital) book. For each question, you receive immediate feedback, so that you learn immediately from any mistakes. In the second part of the e-learning, you work on practical cases, supported by videos. For example, you will be asked which mushroom pins (primordia) will grow and which will not, and how to stimulate or slow down this growth. After giving your answers, you will receive immediate feedback. If you still have questions, you can ask your trainer during the webinar, where plenty of time will be taken for all your questions and comments. At the end of the e-learning, you have to take an exam, which you must successfully complete before you can participate in the webinar.

Webinar

During the online live training session, the e-learning component is explained and discussed in more detail by the trainer. Together with fellow students (maximum 15), you will discuss problems you encounter in daily practice. This exchange will help you assess and optimise your operational processes.

Training Growing

The “Mycelium growth and recovery” module is one of 7 modules covering the entire mushroom growing process. Other modules include:

• Casing soil and filling the room
• Mycelium growth and recovery
• Climate control and evaporation (mollierdiagram)
• Cool-down (this module)
• climate and watering during harvesting
• Harvesting
• Harvesting management

After completing all modules, you will be able to understand the entire process and make adjustments if necessary, in order to produce the optimal mushrooms in the quality for your specific market.

Target group

The target audience is participants who have already taken the Essentials (e-learning) and want to gain more in-depth understanding of mushroom composting. These can be employees who want to grow and better understand what they are doing, to new managers who want to understand the whole process quickly and adequately.
